Identifying our beliefs and the lessons learned are easy because they are attached to our emotions. Identifying the knowledge we hold can be more difficult. We tend not to see ourselves clearly and often downplay any knowledge or experience we have, especially women. That is why we are taking the time to identify all the knowledge we’ve acquired throughout our lifetime. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Any degrees, certifications, and formal training
- Subjects we’ve studied on our own
- Jobs or skills we’ve held or used for more than one year
- Subjects where people ask for your advise
Action steps:
- Set a timer for 15 minutes.
- Get ready to write non-stop for the full 15 minutes.
- Write a list of all knowledge you’ve acquired in your lifetime
- You don’t have give deep descriptions, just enough information to remind yourself later
- Once the 15 minutes are up, set your journal aside for a few days.
- Revisit your journal 3-7 days later.
- Are you surprised at any of the areas of knowledge on the list?
- Which ones align with your beliefs and lessons learned?
- Are there any that spark a fire in you?
- Can you think of ways to use any of the knowledge you’ve learned to help others?
